Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 12, 2026

Socio is a directory that helps advertisers in Nepal find and contact content creators. This page explains what information we collect — from creators, from advertisers, and from the platforms you connect — how we use it, and exactly what each sign-in option does and does not give us.

Information we collect

Public creator information

For creators who have not yet claimed their profile, we build a listing from publicly available data: your channel name, avatar, subscriber count, average views, and the bio text you have already published on YouTube. This comes from YouTube's public Data API and, in some cases, manual research by us. We link back to your original channel and never reproduce your video content.

If you'd rather not be listed, email [email protected] and we'll remove your profile within 48 hours, no questions asked.

Information from YouTube (Google Sign-In)

When you claim your profile via YouTube, we ask you to sign in with the Google account that manages your channel. We request four permissions:

What we explicitly do not do with this access: we cannot and do not post, upload, edit, or delete anything on your channel; we cannot see your watch history or subscriptions; and we do not store the access token itself — it is used once, for the requests that verify ownership and read your public/audience stats, and then discarded. It is never written to our database or logs.

Information from TikTok

When you claim or connect a TikTok account, we request read-only access to your basic profile (username, avatar, bio, follower count — automatically included by TikTok with every sign-in) and your public video list, which we use to compute your average views, likes, and comments. We never request permission to post, message, or manage comments on your behalf. TikTok does not offer any way for us to access audience demographics (age, gender, or location of your followers) — that data simply isn't exposed to apps like ours by TikTok, at any level of access, so we never collect it.

Information from Instagram

Instagram sign-in only works for Business or Creator accounts (a platform requirement, not ours) and requires read-only access to your basic profile (username, avatar, bio, follower count) and your recent posts' like and comment counts, which we use to compute your average engagement. We never request permission to publish, message, or manage comments on your behalf, and we do not currently request Instagram's audience-insights permission, so we don't collect follower demographics from Instagram today.

Information from Facebook

Facebook sign-in claims a Facebook Page you manage — personal profiles can't be listed, only Pages, since that's the only place YouTube-style public creator metrics exist on Facebook. If your account manages more than one Page, you choose which one to connect. We request read-only access to your Page's basic info (name, avatar, follower count) and recent posts' like and comment counts. We never request permission to publish or message on your behalf. Meta (Facebook's parent company) discontinued follower-demographic data for Pages connected after March 2024, so we don't collect that from Facebook.

Across every platform above: we never store your access token in our database or logs — each one is used only for the single request/response cycle that needs it, then discarded. Because of this, none of your connected-platform data refreshes automatically the way it would if we kept a standing connection; it updates only when you claim or reconnect an account, which you can do anytime from your dashboard.

Information you provide directly

Once claimed, anything you choose to add — your bio, city, categories, and rate card — is stored and displayed on your public profile exactly as you enter it. You can also add a business contact email and/or phone number; unlike everything else on your profile, this is kept private and only shown to an advertiser we've approved, after they specifically choose to reveal it (see "Advertisers" below) — it is never publicly visible on your profile page.

If you're an advertiser

Searching and browsing Socio never requires an account. Signing up as an advertiser (to reveal a creator's contact details) asks for your email, company name, industry, and optionally your website and whether you're an agency. We review new advertiser access requests by hand before inviting them — this isn't a paywall, it exists so the "N advertisers contacted you" figure a creator sees is meaningful. When you reveal a creator's contact details, we record that event (which company, when) so the creator can see who's shown interest — this is shown to the creator, not to other advertisers.

Profile views

We record when a creator's profile page is viewed — a timestamp and a rough guess at whether the visit came from a search engine or a direct link (based on the referring page, which isn't always reliable). If you're signed in as an advertiser at the time, that view is associated with your advertiser account so the creator's dashboard can show real traffic data. We do not track individual visitors beyond this, and this data is never sold or shared outside Socio.

Cookies

We set one cookie: a signed, HTTP-only session cookie that remembers you're signed in and temporarily holds state during a sign-in flow itself (a security token, and — if you're choosing between multiple YouTube channels or Facebook Pages — which one you're picking). It cannot be read or modified by JavaScript, and we do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

How we use this information

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties beyond the services listed below that are necessary to operate Socio.

Third-party services we use

Data retention and removal

We keep listing data for as long as a profile remains on Socio. If you've claimed your profile, you can hide it instantly from your dashboard — no waiting, and reversible any time. Haven't claimed it, or need a correction instead? Email [email protected] and we'll action it within 48 hours.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Socio after a change means you accept the updated policy.
